Summary of Job Purpose & Function:

We are looking for Veterinary Technician Assistants for our Emergency department swing and overnight teams that can assist the doctors by providing the best patient care and customer service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Helping maintain the flow of patients

  • Communicating with the veterinarian and vet techs
  • Carrying out or setting up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance
  • Gentle and patient focused handling and restraint
  • Focused toward general practice, and wellness. comfortable with end of life appointments and able to conduct unassisted client education in exam rooms
  • Adhering to hospital standards that keep pets safe, and the treatment areas, exam rooms and labs clean and organized

Job Purpose:  The purpose of the Technician Supervisor position is to provide direct oversight of the clinical aspects of the veterinary hospital including personnel, equipment, and the facility. This position works in close allegiance with the Medical Director and Hospital Director and is considered a leader within the team culture.

Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Leadership:

  • Serve as a coach, trainer, and mentor to hospital staff in a positive, meaningful, and professional manner.
  • Supports programs and decisions from the corporate level through the local level.
  • Handles personnel matters in a professional and confidential manner to promote team building and trust.
  • Works closely with team leaders, lead technicians, and hospital management to support decisions, protocols, and standards of care.
  • Assists with daily flow of all clinical areas including personnel staffing and management, flow of patient care, procedures, and treatments; provides direct assistance to areas as necessary.
  • Partners with DVMs and lead technicians to deliver consistent and outstanding patient and client care.
  • Promotes proper handling, restraint, and treatment of patients in a mutually safe and beneficial manner.

Personnel Management:

  • Directly oversees staffing needs in the hospital
  • Participates in recruitment, interviewing, and selection of non-DVM applicants for open positions.
  • Oversees the management of staff scheduling while working closely with technician Supervisor, team leaders, and DVMs with a goal of providing adequate staff coverage on a 24/7 basis.
  • Participates in staff development, training, retooling, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Participates in staff evaluations both 90-day and annual.

Equipment & Facility Maintenance:  Defined as all aspects of the physical plant, indoors and outdoors, and all facility equipment.

  • Oversees that the facility is maintained in sound work order.  The facility is clean, odor-free, in good repair, and appealing to the public and staff.
  • Medical equipment is maintained in sound working order and repaired or replaced as necessary.
  • Assists with other needs as requested.

Technical Duties:

  • Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery
  • Proficient IV catheter placement
  • Proficient and accurate drug calculations and administration
  • Quality nursing and husbandry care of patients
  • Strong working knowledge of veterinary procedures and pharmacology
  • Perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens for outside labs
  • Perform and/or participate in all other diagnostics such as radiology, ultrasound, ECG, BP, and glucose monitoring
  • Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights as well as providing client education
  • Provide nursing care for in-hospital patients including all veterinarians requested treatments, diagnostics, and medications
    • Accurately and completely record all treatments
  • Conduct pre-admission exams and discharge hospitalized patients
  • Perform client updates as necessary
  • Maintain legally defensible medical records in cooperation with veterinarians
  • Actively engages in Nursing Rounds
    • Rounds delivered/received at shift changes, anytime a staff member comes/leaves
    • Rounds will be complete, detailed, and relative to patient & client care

 Teamwork:  defined as “Cooperative effort by the members of a group to achieve a common goal and/or outcome.

  • Participates in a positive manner in all group sizes.
  • Refrains from participating in gossip.
  • Supports team members by assisting other areas, is receptive to feedback and suggestions.

  • Makes suggestions related to client/patient service improvements and hospital efficiency.

Equipment:

  • Veterinary medical equipment including laboratory, imaging, anesthesia, surgery, IV pumps, monitors, etc.
  • Cornerstone/EzyVet computer system
  • Office equipment including photocopier, fax, telecommunications, etc

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience equivalent to job duties and responsibilities
  • Excellent veterinary nursing and technical skills
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong ability to multi-task, delegate and oversee daily workflow
  • Strong working knowledge of veterinary medicine – primary and emergency care

Physical:

  •  Able to properly restrain dog and cat patients for veterinary care and procedures

Summary of Job Purpose & Function:

We are looking for Veterinary Technicians for our Emergency department swing and overnight teams that can assist the doctors by providing the best patient care and customer service. The veterinary technician will provide comfort, diagnostic, and nursing care to all patients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform treatments on hospitalized animals and outpatients, obtain vitals and BP’s, discharging patients, phlebotomy for both in-house and outside lab work
  • Obtain an accurate patient history, proper client communication and record keeping.
  • Assist in patient stabilization including, but not limited to, IV catheter placement, drug/fluid therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Triage all emergencies. Perform outpatient diagnostics and treatments.
  • Administer anesthesia for surgeries and other anesthetic procedures, surgical prep
  • Perform in-house blood work and use IDEXX/ABAXIS lab equipment
  • Set up and perform radiographs, maintain medical records, client communication and patient billing
  • Restraint of patients for IV catheters, physical examinations, minor procedures (ex. Central line placement and ultrasounds).
  • Provide updates to pet owners on the status of their pet during the duration of visit. Maintain open and clear communications with members of patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns

Job Title:                     ER Veterinarian (multiple openings) 

Job Location:              Hillsborough Township, New Jersey

Duties:                         Gather information, and listen to and empathize with clients to build rapport. Communicate with clients regarding pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventive health care, and nutritional needs. Examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries. Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds, performing surgery, or other therapies while minimizing patient stress and discomfort. Responsible for outpatient case care, emergency case triage, and monitoring hospitalized ER and specialty patients overnight. Triage multiple patients at once, educate clients, and perform emergency procedures and surgery, and interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory results. Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and ensure all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols. Stay current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine. Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team. Requirements:                  Employer will accept a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.

Our Urgent Care Veterinarian will focus on non-critical cases that enter the emergency department, and enjoy a varied caseload, with no overnights or on-call duties, and rotating weekends! We are interested in speaking to internship-trained and experienced GP or ER clinicians. This position will include care and services for non-critical emergencies, including skin lacerations, vomiting, limping, ear infections, eye and skin issues, etc. 

The schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts, 10:00 am - 8:00 pm with rotating weekends working Saturday or Sunday.
